California Pizza Kitchen - Northridge, CA

California Pizza Kitchen, now known affectionately as CPK, has been a local favorite of Southern California for decades.
This is always a great place for consistently great tasting food. The restaurants are designed for family dining, or a romantic meal for two.

On this visit we decided to try the Rib Eye and the Chicken Piccata. We love our steaks on the medium side, and they did not disappoint. It was tender and juicy. Honestly, it really does compare to what you would be served at a steakhouse. And we would know! If there is a steakhouse around, we will find it! They top the steak with a lump of buttery garlic spread. It so enhances the flavor.
The other dish we tried was the Chicken Piccata. Philip loved this dish. The noodles were al dente', as they should  be. It was a balance of just enough cream sauce to the amount of noodles they serve. The chicken that comes with the dish  seemed to be marinated in the same sauce. Tender and tasty.

We highly recommend this location. If you like a booth, you may have to wait. But, bar seating seems to be always available (and your service will be faster).

Enjoy!

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food... this is the place.  There are some amazing offerings at this establishment. It was redone not too long ago, and it now has a very modern looking interior.  Very inviting. In addition, they now have an outdoor patio, although I rarely see anyone actually eat outside.

We simply love the Walnut Shrimp. This is a favorite dish of ours to order at most Chinese Restaurant's. Kung Pao Bistro has to be one of the best.
The battered then fried Walnut Shrimp dish is always done to perfection. It's always the right amount of sauce, not soupy as some can be, and the best candied walnuts. We also simply love the Mongolian Beef. This is another one of their signature dishes. The meat is tender and with great flavor. Definitely a MUST order.
If you are into the Brussel Sprouts craze...well Kung Pao Bistro has their version. I wish I could say these are also a thumbs up, but alas we cannot. There are so many variations out there. Our favorite of all time was from a now defunct restaurant in Downtown LA. It was served with Gorgonzola cheese and grapes. OMG, so delish. No these really did not seemed to be cooked well enough, or have enough taste to them. Hopefully they will enhance their recipe on this.

Well besides the brussel sprouts, this is a great place to visit. We most assuredly recommend this restaurant.   Heck, even Kim Kardashian and Kaye West were seen dining here!

If you are looking for historic Old Hollywood dining, you have found the place. This place
has been here since 1949, and it has all the charm of that time you would expect. You can
envision some of the Hollywood greats eating here. It's got so many different seating arrangements in the restaurant, any type of dining experience you are looking for is there. Quiet booths, open tables, bar seating, large dining tables, or balcony dining. It's all here!

On this visit we decided to go with some Italian favorites. Why not?
Firstly, Angie's Original Baked Lasagna. This was so very good. I can still taste it. A return visit for this particular dish is worth the trip. It was a generous portion and had all the flavor of a homemade dish.
Secondly, the Sausage and Peppers. Now the most memorable Sausage and Pepper dish I have ever had was in New York's Little Italy. I wish I could remember the name of that restaurant. That dish stills lingers in my palate. Miceli's version was definitely did not reach that level, but was still very enjoyable. The sauce was flavorful enough, and the sausage was the same.
In addition to our entrees we also tried the Fried Calamari, and the Antipasto salad.
We loved the Fried Calamari. It was one of the best we have tried. Along with the Lasagna, the Calamari will definitely warrant a return visit.

With all that said, we really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. Outside of the great food, the waiters sing! They all switch off singing any number of songs. Some familiar Italian melody's, and some modern tunes. Either way, it's great entertainment while enjoying your meal. It's an very well rounded visit, food and entertainment.
