ABSOLUTELY A DELICIOUS APpVENTURE
...another APpventure during this pandemic to a nearby restaurant. Above all else, staying safe! With this pandemic getting out is so important for our health and mental well being. What better way to do this than a trip to a restaurant in Glendale. We have seen this place over the years, but have never tried it. As you can see from the images, they have taken over half of the trolley car street for outside dining. Many of the eating establishments in Los Angeles have done this to get by. After our many trips to Europe, this alfresco dining familiar and alright with us!
So we tried a few things here. I had a Salmon Linguini dish, and Philip had the Caesar Salad with a side of Frittura (calamari). Honestly, I was so hungry that I started eating my food before I could even take a picture of it. The pasta was al dente, with the salmon being very flavorful. I was plenty pleased with my dish as was Philip. I'm not the biggest fan of calamari, but this one was superb. Loved it. During this pandemic, we have been rating a lot of these dining establishments with a lens on Covid. We felt quite comfortable here for several reasons. Importantly the tables were at least 6 feet apart and outdoors. They did have a barrier up because not only did the restaurant take over part of the street, they also utilized the entire sidewalk in front of their establishment. As we were dining various pedestrians would still walk around these barricades and wander amongst the tables. I was grateful to the staff to notice this and enforce the barrier so we could eat without strangers literally walking right next to our table; and some without masks. All wait staff wore masks AND shields. Generally the service was great. But for some reason getting a refill on a beverage was a task. We had to wave down the staff for every refill. That said, with this being the weak point the entire experience was well worth the outing. Please find time during this Pandemic to visit this location. It really is worth a visit.

amidst Covid, another outdoor dining experience. This location is not new to us. But, we wanted to experience this during these 'Pandemic' times. California has an 'only' outdoor dining rule at this time, so all indoor dining is prohibited. Firstly, this location really knows how to keep the place clean. They are very detailed when it comes to disinfecting a dining table and chairs once someone has finished their meal.
With thank understanding, it's not surprising you do have to wait a bit for a table. We didn't mind. Over the years we have come to appreciate the food at CPK, and wanted to have some sort of normal dining experience. Right off we did not have the large menu CPK normally offers. We had a kinda kid's meal paper menu (it was missing the puzzle!). This is because they are disposable and also because not all items normally on the menu are available. This pandemic has caused shortages of many items. Thankfully what we normally order was on the menu. We enjoyed the Garlic Cream pasta and the Chicken Tequila pasta. They were made as we expected, and have enjoyed over the years. It almost like having home cooking, something familiar during these Covid times. Keep it up CPK! We can attest to this location's safety as well. All staff wear masks and face shields. They are so apologetic if your waiting time is longer than expected. They even gave us free small plate coupons for our next visit. Great teamwork at this location. |
