ABSOLUTELY A DELICIOUS APpVENTURE

The Grand Cafe is located at the Red Rock Casino and is about 18 miles off the strip in Las Vegas. The restaurant invokes a European-inspired ambience, which helps illustrate a great sense of class when it comes to a chic dining experience. Their great restaurant design helps to stage what others may perceive to be a great and posh cafe. It truly is a great looking restaurant as you'll see in the slideshow below. However, the service and the food is nothing short of ordinary. One can say that the food and customer service at Grand Cafe does not level up with its high class ambience. The food that we ordered came out wrong and the server had to reorder our food. The servers were also not very friendly and it made us uncomfortable to even ask for another glass of water. Based on our experience, we don't intend to dine at the Grand Cafe again but will definitely choose a much more popular and welcoming restaurant at the Red Rock Casino. Vertical Divider
![]() Eating at Barrio Fiesta is like experiencing a home cooked meal in the Philippines. What makes this place pretty unique is that they serve your entrees in the same pot or pan where they were cooked. They also keep the same recipe of Filipino dishes that has been passed on for many generations so you will be guaranteed that the taste is the same and is very familiar to the palate. I consider this restaurant to be a treat once in a while because it is so rich in goodness that sometimes it may be too much for our body to have too much indulgence. As they say, a little bit of everything won't hurt. Just stay on the safe side and monitor your sugar, salt and fat consumption. But as long as you don't eat this food everyday, you should be okay. Today, we ordered the Rellenong Talong, which is a grilled eggplant wrapped in an egg omelet and stuffed with ground pork, raisins, diced potatoes, and green peas. This dish is definitely a treat especially if you love eggplant. We also ordered my favorite Beef Caldereta, which is simmered in tomato sauce, onion, liver spread, bell pepper and cheese. This dish is a popular party favorite. The Barrio Fiesta in North Hills at the corner of Nordhoff and Woodley and can easily be located at 16150 Nordhoff Street, North Hills, CA 91343. It is next door to Seafood City Supermarket so it is definitely hard to miss. ![]() If you are pretty adventurous and you happen to drive close by the Ports of Call in San Pedro, California, we highly recommend that you try out the market and restaurants in San Pedro. Because they cook it within minutes, you will be guaranteed to enjoy some of the best tasting food that Southern California has to offer. The prices are also very reasonable considering the fact that the seafood is fresh and of excellent quality. It is no wonder why this place is so packed with locals who want to enjoy fresh seafood. ![]() The Wokcano Restaurant in Burbank is located on San Fernando and East Angeleno Avenue. This restaurant seem to have expanded their space because we noticed that their space extend to another bar in the back of the restaurant. There is plenty of seating, which means that the wait to get a table is very minimal. One of the best thing that we like to order at Wokcano is their Honey Walnut Shrimp. This dish is always so flavorful because they use fresh shrimps and then cover them with a batter and add a little bit of mayonnaise, honey and sweetened condensed milk. The result is definitely heavenly with or without the crispy honey glazed walnuts. You will never get tired of this dish and we highly recommend that you try it at least once. During our visit to Wokcano, we also ordered their Kung Pao Chicken as an entree and Chicken Wings as appetizer. Their Kung Pao Chicken has the right amount of flavor with mix just the right amount of spice. To be on the safe side, you can request that they make it medium spice. However, if you love spicy food, you can tell the waiter to make it extra spicy. We love spicy food so we always request this dish with extra spice. The chicken wings was also pretty good. It was crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. It was also seasoned nicely so it came out with just the right amount of saltiness without changing the flavor of the chicken. Both dishes were pretty good especially when your palate has already predetermined what it wants to savor. |
